Catherine Kent is better known for her vibrant, textural, impressionistic, abstract and at times stylized works on raw canvas.
However, in this exhibition, she explores the mark making process on heavyweight paper.
Memories of places in which Catherine grew up, the Highlands in Scotland and the Dales in Yorkshire are all interpreted with the 'Essential Mark'.
These dramatic landscapes are captured, drawn in a loose, soft and abstract form. Catherine gives insight and captivates the viewer with these remote and far away lands.
Her figure drawing, the largest piece in these works, explores light, working with positive and negative space along with mark making.
